Italian UNIFIL bases hit, cameras destroyed
In Naqura, no Italian soldier injured
A few cameras located in the Italian
outposts of UNIFIL bases in southern Lebanon were hit and
destroyed on Thursday.
The incident, ANSA has learned, occurred at the base of Naqura,
a location allegedly targeted by the Israeli army.
Well-informed sources said no Italian military personnel was
among the injured.
UN sources were quoted by Reuters as saying that Israeli troops
had opened fire against UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon.
The sources told Reuters that one of the locations fired at was
UNIFIL's base at Naqura.
At least two UN peacekeepers were injured in Naqura, Lebanese
military security sources told ANSA.
According to the Lebanese military sources, the peacekeepers are
Indonesian citizens who were injured when an Israeli tank opened
fire against a guard observation tower at the base.
Local medical sources said the two UN peacekeeprs were not
seriously injured.
