Mohamed Salah has admitted he is "probably more out than in", with the Liverpool star issuing a telling update about his future at the club.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and the 32-year-old remains one of Liverpool's most important players, as evidenced by his two goals in their dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Southampton on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Salah revealed Liverpool have not offered him a new deal yet and admitted he is "disappointed" with the club. "We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club," he told reporters.

"I'm probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future.

"I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let's wait and see." When asked if he felt disappointed that the club had not made him an offer, Salah replied: "Of course, yeah.

"I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see. I'm very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic.

"I'm just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I'm just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next."

Salah could leave Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the season

Salah previously expressed his frustration over the situation after starring in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Manchester United back in September. "I had a good summer, a long time to stay with myself and think positively a bit, this is my last year with the club and I want to enjoy it," he told Sky Sports.

"I feel I am free to play football – we will see what happens next year. To be fair I was coming to the game it could be the last time [playing at Old Trafford]. Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me, it is up to the club."
