Tipperary legend joins Offaly hurling backroom team
Offaly hurling is riding the crest of a wave and they're looking to build on that in 2025 with this latest high profile appointment.
Tipperary legend Seamus Callanan has added his substantial firepower to a crack Offaly backroom team.
The three-time All-Ireland winner has joined Johnny Kelly’s coaching ticket, where he will work alongside his former Tipperary team mate Brendan Maher and Maher’s brother Martin.
Callanan (36) will take on a role as forwards coach where he’ll work with exciting young talents such as Charlie Mitchell and Adam Screeney, who have fired Kilcormac-Killoughey into a Leinster club final.

Offaly hurling is riding the crest of a wave after two decades in the doldrums and the move for Callanan will be seen as a further sign of their ambition to kick on to the next level.
Kelly’s men won the McDonagh Cup this year, and will play Leinster Championship hurling in 2025, while Offaly also won the All-Ireland under-20 title on heady night at Nowlan Park.
Drom and Inch club man Callanan - the 2019 Hurler of the Year - retired from inter-county duty at the end of the 2023 season.
His move into the Offaly backroom team was confirmed by Kelly to the Independent.
