Katie Taylor told there's only

Katie Taylor has been told that a trilogy fight with Chantelle Cameron is the only bout that makes sense as the undisputed super-lightweight champion weighs up what to do next.

The Bray Bomber defeated Amanda Serrano at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on November 15, where over 72,000 spectators were joined by a massive global audience tuning in on Netflix.

The 38-year-old has now won twice against Serrano, with their first bout being a contender for Fight of the Century back in April 2022. Despite no signs of retiring, the champion is open to a third match with Serrano, although promoter Frank Warren believes his own female star, who already holds a victory over Taylor, should be next in line, reports The Irish Star.

"Chantelle Cameron is ready and waiting for the trilogy clash with Katie Taylor," he stated in his recent Daily Star column. "There's no fight out there which makes more sense than a clash with Cameron for the Irish fighter. I've seen plenty of talk this week about a third bout with Amanda Serrano after their thrilling fight in Dallas.

"But Taylor is 2-0 against the Puerto Rican – why would they have a third showdown? Queensberry star Cameron is the only woman to have a win over Taylor in the paid ranks."

In May 2023, Cameron delivered a shock at Dublin's 3Arena, defeating Taylor, who had a record of 24-1 (6 KOs), marking her first professional loss. Cameron, with a scorecard of 20-1 (8 KOs), held onto her undisputed 140lb title but would concede it in a rematch six months on.

Since that bout, Cameron has moved from her former trainer Jamie Moore to team up with Grant Smith and, leaving promoter Eddie Hearn, has signed on with Warren at Queensberry Promotions.

Promoter Frank Warren says Chantelle Cameron is 'ready and waiting' for Katie Taylor

"Both fights were thrillers and everybody would want to see it again," Warren declared. "Now I'm on good terms with Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn, it should be an easy fight to make. The phone is on and we're ready and waiting.

"Chantelle is the mandatory challenger for the WBC title which Taylor holds so we will be pushing for that fight if they don't come to the negotiating table. There are no stumbling blocks. We will even be on the same broadcaster [DAZN] from next April."

Back in January, Taylor's promoters were “hopeful” of securing a stadium fight for her in Dublin in May as discussions continued between Croke Park and the Government.

Matchroom CEO Frank Smith previously admitted that the busy sporting schedule in Dublin makes things difficult for a stadium show, but there remains hope a trilogy fight between Taylor and Cameron eventually be nailed down.

“The key focus for us is to get Katie back in Dublin again. We promote both Katie and Chantelle obviously, and they’ve delivered two of the best nights of boxing I’ve seen in terms of fights and atmosphere and I think it would be great to see another one," Smith said.
