Teenage Shelbourne striker Gavin Hodgins is on the radar of a number of clubs in the League of Ireland and UK - thanks to his explosive form since his return from a loan spell at Glenavon.

Hodgins’ time up north was hampered by a virus that kept him sidelined for several weeks.

Since his return to Tolka Park he has been prolific, scoring seven goals in seven appearances for the club’s Under-20s - at an incredible rate of a goal every 53 minutes.

Hodgins, whose contract expires at the end of this season, has only completed 90 minutes once this term.

Since the start of last season he has scored 29 goals in 28 appearances at underage level for the Reds.

That form has seen interest in the youngster emerge from as far away as Serie A side Bologna, as well as Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Several Championship clubs are also keeping tabs on Hodgins, who trained at Hull City last year.

Bolton Wanderers will continue to monitor Hodgins’ progress for the remainder of this year after their swoop this week for another Shels prospect, Mark Isong.

Isong (18) signed a two-year deal with the English side and said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to be here. This is an historic club.

“I've seen them play before and I know the level of support is brilliant. I'm really happy to be here and can't wait to get started.

“Since I was a kid I've always wanted to come to England and progress my career and I feel this is the next step and I can't wait to get started.”
