Coldplay’s Chris Martin has thanked Irish fans for an “unforgettable” four nights playing to a sold-out Croke Park - as the band enjoyed some quiet pints in several pubs around Dublin while staying in the city.

The band have just finished a four-night run at Croke Park, performing their Music of the Spheres tour to over 320,000 fans. In a post on social media, Chris is pictured sitting on the ground on Grafton Street in what looks to be the early hours of Tuesday morning after the band’s run of shows.

He wrote: “Thank you so much everyone who welcomed us in Dublin, it was so fun.” In another post, he said: “Dublin – it’s hard to find the words. Those were four extra special nights that we’ll never forget. Thank you Croker, thank you GAA, thank you Dublin!!”

We can reveal Coldplay enjoyed pints around the city while they were here. They surprised pub goers at O’Donoghue's on Friday night and were also spotted at House on Leeson Street on Sunday night. The band returned back to House on Monday night to celebrate their four-night success.

According to reports by Extra.ie, Olympic boxer Kellie Harrington was spotted amongst some of the A-list celebrities mingling with the band. The website reports that Chris congratulated Kellie on her Olympic gold medal win last month in Paris. Singer Imelda May, presenter Glenda Gilson and Claudine Keane, wife of footballer Robbie Keane, were also rumoured to be at the after-party, as well as American actor Luis Guzmán.

Last week, Coldplay surprised hundreds of Irish fans on Dublin’s Grafton Street on Wednesday night, ahead of their Croke Park gigs. At about 8.30pm, the band’s frontman Chris Martin showed up with Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna and Tini for a street performance of their new song, We Pray. It’s understood they were shooting a music video for their new collaboration.

And on Sunday night, they invited Aslan up on stage to sing a rendition of Crazy World. Kiera Dignam exclusively told the Irish Mirror she thought it was a lovely tribute to her late father, Christy Dignam.

She told us: “We got a call on Sunday from some of Coldplay’s staff just to invite us in and let us know that it was happening. It was nice to get a heads up because it’s still very hard.

“It was nice to see the tribute paid to him. Any tribute is nice and I think it is lovely that Coldplay wanted to give that nod to my dad. It’s an Irish anthem and it’s lovely that it got to be played in Croke Park.”
