Sky Sports apologise for 'stro

Sky Sports were forced to apologise after TJ Doheny's fight with Naoya Inoue, but nobody is quite sure why.

Inoue solidified his status as one of the greatest fighters of the modern era as he dismantled a spirited Doheny for six rounds before the Irishman was forced to retire through injury right at the beginning of the seventh stanza with what looked to be a hip issue.

Confusion reigned as the bout was called off, with many in attendance unsure as to what exactly has happened. Adding to the confusion, Sky Sports mysteriously flashed an apology message up on screen which read: "Apologies for any strong language used in this live programme."

The apology appeared to be unwarranted however, as there was no evidence of strong language being picked up by ringside microphones, and given the silent nature of the Japanese crowd for most of the evening, a bout of bad language would most likely have been easily heard by television audiences.

While the end of the fight was marred slightly by confusion, Inoue's performance left nobody in any doubt about his credentials as one of the best boxers on the planet at the moment. He is only the third active fighter after Oleksandr Usyk and Terrence Crawford to become two-weight, four-belt undisputed champions.

The 31-year-old took his record to 28-0 as he defended his undisputed super-bantamweight world championship.

"I'm still a work in progress. Today's match especially I want to celebrate how TJ Doheny brought the fight into this ring and his career.

"I would like to thank him and yes, you can expect more from me in the future."
