Former Opposition Leader Adrian Delia and former PN MP Jason Azzopardi are claiming that a man died in the waiting room at the A&E at Mater Dei Hospital as he was waiting to be seen while complaining of chest pains.
The man was not named by Delia and Azzopardi but he was later identified as 55-year-old Stephen Mangion.
Azzopardi, in a Facebook post, said that the man was asked to go to hospital in his own car after he had been to the Floriana health centre.
The man collapsed after complaining of severe chest pain before he was assisted. Azzopardi claimed the incident could be described as manslaughter.
In another post, Delia mentioned the same incident, saying that without wanting to blame anyone, he had been long saying that the situation at the hospital is critical and is not keeping with demand.
