Oasis matriarch Peggy Gallagher has offloaded her beloved holiday home in the west of Ireland after concerns from her famous sons, Liam and Noel.

At 81, the Oasis brothers fretted about their mum being isolated in Charlestown, Co Mayo, particularly post-Covid, with no one nearby to look after her should she fall ill. The once frequent flyer from Manchester to her cherished Mayo retreat has seen her visits dwindle with age, leaving the house mostly vacant. Recently sold for a sum north of €300,000, the property sits a mere 3 miles from the town centre.

Peggy's increasing years have seen her presence in Charlestown diminish, as driving herself was no longer an option. A local confidant shared: "In recent years we'd hardly see Peggy here. I suppose she is getting older and decided to sell up because she was not getting the use out of the house that she used to be."

"The Covid pandemic changed things for a lot of people including Peggy.", reports Dublin Live. "The last thing you want is to be stuck in isolation with no one calling to your door to see you. But also a lot of her old friends have passed on and most of her surviving family are living in England."

"I have no doubt Liam and Noel were worried about her being over in Ireland on her own and that probably made up her mind to sell." It's been several years since either Liam or Noel visited Charlestown, although their older brother Paul did make a solo trip to check on the place. The Gallaghers constructed a modern home on the site, complete with high-tech cameras and gates, which are meticulously maintained. A source commented: " Whoever bought it got a right bargain, fair play to them."

Local pub owner JJ Finan expressed that the locals were saddened by Peggy's decision to sell but completely understood her reasons. He stated: "She was just not around as much as she was years ago. She probably wants to be around her sons and her grandchildren who she adores."

Following the news that Liam and Noel are finally putting their differences aside and reuniting as Oasis, reports claim that Peggy was the reason behind the mega reunion. Speaking to the Irish Sun, a source said: "Coming up to Peggy's 80th birthday last year, both Liam and Noel asked Peggy what she wanted for her birthday. Her reply was simple.

"She told her two sons, 'I don't want an expensive present, all I want you two to do is start talking again and stop all this nonsense.' Peggy never asked Liam and Noel to start playing music together again — but the two of them talking again led to the biggest music event of 2025 with fans around the world trying to get tickets to Oasis comeback shows."

A source said that Peggy "rules the roost". Speaking in 2016, 13 years after Oasis disbanded and Noel and Liam falling out, she said in the Oasis documentary, Supersonic: "I think there was that bit of jealousy with Liam and Noel. Noel was beautiful as a baby and then Liam comes along, it takes the limelight off you. You could tell there was disagreement with them. I was glad they were in a band together. I would not have wanted Liam in a band without Noel but it all happened too quick."
