Ed Sheeran's cousin was left furious after being slapped with a legal warning by his famous relative's record label.

Jethro Sheeran who goes by the stage name Alonestar faced criticism after he promoted a track which he recorded with Ed. The track, titled Raise Em Up was reportedly recorded by the pair in 2010. Now, Jethro, 42, is planning to release 21 remixes to his Spotify page.

But it is claimed that bosses at Ed's record label, Warner Music have issued legal demands to the Bristol-based musician. It's said that the mega label behind artists such as Ed, Charli xcx, Coldplay and Megan Thee Stallion instructed Jethro to remove Ed's name and image from the artwork promoting the releases.

Jethro is believed to have complied with the demand, despite the image remaining on his official Instagram account, in order to avoid a legal battle with those behind his famous cousin's career. Speaking in a new interview, he expressed his disappointment and claimed that even his legal representatives had been shocked by the demands.

"I was super disappointed in him," he told The Sun. He went on to add: "Even my lawyers were shocked how he could do this to family. But it's OK, I'm doing great, working on my new album. I wish him the best, just far away from me." Jethro, who started his career as a model with top agencies including Storm and Nevs has worked with the likes of Prada and Calvin Klein.

On the music scene, he signed with EMI in 2011, releasing the EP Warrior, featuring artists such as Jaja Soze and Rosie Ribbons, as well as Ed. He has also worked with his cousin on Ed's own music, including his songs You Need Me, I Don't Need You, Move On and Pause. His younger cousin, 33, has also appeared in the video for Jethro's song Skyla Rain.

Their collaborative track Raise Em Up was also featured in the 2013 film, All Stars. But Ed isn't the only big name to have worked with Jethro. Last year, he released the track Down 2 Ride featuring controversial American musician, Chris Brown. He also performed with the late Amy Winehouse at the Elephant Head pub in Camden, north West London.

While he signed a deal with Sony Music to launch three imprints on digital service providers, he also runs his own record label Urban Angel Records and production company, Urban Angel Productions, based out of Bristol, London and Denmark.

The Mirror has approached Ed and Warner Music's spokesperson for comment.
