Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has given an update on his recovery from ACL surgery.

The Tyrone Dobbs actor - who has been on the Cobbles for over two decades - had to take some time away from the soap whilst he recovered from his surgery and there is still a long road ahead as he heals from the procedure.

Giving an update on This Morning today, he was asked about his injuries. He said: "I’ve had a couple of operations on my knee. Listen, they never lengthened my legs like I asked them to. But I’m doing good."

Alan previously revealed he had to have ACL reconstruction surgery - but insisted there would be a long road ahead.

Taking to social media, he shared some snaps from his recovery and captioned it: "Reconstruction surgery," followed by, "Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I'm sure with the support of family and friends I'll get there."

HisCoronation Streetco-stars were quick to leave messages of support. Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor in the soap, wrote: "Rest. Up. holler if you need some grapes," whilst Claire Sweeney, who portrays Alan's character Tyrone's mother, added in the comments section: "This is great news, glad it was a success xxxx".

It's a busy time on the soap for Tyrone - as Alina Pop makes a shock return this evening. Speaking about the scenes, Ruxandra Porojnicu said: "Alina is back in Weatherfield because she's a witness in a trial against traffickers.

"She feels like she should avoid Tyrone and Fiz. If it was by choice, she would have avoided seeing Fiz at all costs. It happens and she just wants to get away from it as soon as possible. I think she is curious to see Tyrone and to speak with him again, because obviously she had feelings for him and he was a very important person in her life at some point.

"But I would say if it hadn't been for the court trial, she would not have chosen to come back. I think because she saw herself building a life with him and because they went through a lot of trauma, which bonded them together, I think she still has feelings for him but different types of feelings. I think he will always mean something to her but just on a different level."
