Rhasidat Adeleke sent out a warning statement to her fellow 400m competitors with a wildly impressive heat victory on Day 10 of the Paris Olympics.
Running in the sixth heat, Adeleke jacked up the pace from the start as she used her natural speed to get to the front of the pack early on.
Such was her dominance, the 21-year-old was able to slow down significantly for the final 100 metres as she crossed the line while jogging to clock a time of 50.09.

And with Adeleke foregoing the relay events to focus on her 400m individual exploits, there is great hope and expectation that she can shatter her personal best time of 49.07 and get herself on the podium.
"It felt so good, it was so fun," Adeleke said after her heat win. "I have been here for a week now and I've been itching to go the last three days."
Adeleke used Tuesday as a rest day as she prepares for her semi-final on Wednesday evening. Adeleke was the seventh fastest to get through the heats with her 50.09 with five runners dipping under the 50 metre mark.
Ireland's Sharlene Mawdsley and Sophie Becker will be back in action on Tuesday for the Repechage with Mawdsley competing at 10.20 am while Becker goes off at 10.44 am.
