Urgent appeal issued after dog

A Dublin-based animal shelter has issued an urgent plea to the owner of a dog found abandoned at Dublin Airport to come forward.

The dog, a German Shepherd named Izzy, was found in a car in the car park of Dublin Airport on Saturday.

Izzy was discovered wearing a harness and collar with a tag displaying a number from the UK, while she also had a chip that showed she was registered to an address in the UK.

However, numerous attempts to contact the dog's owner proved unsuccessful and Izzy has since been placed in the care of the Dublin County Dog Shelter.

The animal shelter have taken to social media to issue an appeal to Izzy's owner to come forward.

"Izzy arrived to the shelter on Saturday after being found in a car in the car park of Dublin Airport...," they wrote in a Facebook post.

"On arrival she was wearing a harness and collar with a tag displaying a UK number attached. We checked her chip and she was registered to an address in the UK, with a matching phone number to her tag..

"Numerous attempts to contact the number were unsuccessful and the phone just rang out.

"We are hoping there is a reasonable explanation for this, however right now it appears that she has been left behind.

"We don't know the circumstances so we are pleading, if you know or are Izzy's owner, please get in contact with us to let us know what happened.

"Overall Izzy is a very friendly girl, good with other dogs and is toilet trained. She is in good condition too so it appears she was well looked after...

"She needs to complete her stray days with us and then she will be available for rehoming."

If you would like to apply to adopt Izzy once her stray days are up, you can contact the Dublin County Dog Shelter on 087 391 4008, WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram.
