Rhasidat Adeleke breezed through her heat on Monday morning as she sent a warning statement to her fellow 400m competitors in Paris, posting an impressive 50.09 time.

Adeleke is aiming to be Ireland's first track and field athlete to win a medal since Rob Heffernan at London 2012 and Sonia O'Sullivan in Sydney back in 2000.

And the Dubliner looks well on her way after her impressive heat victory and will race in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening.

Where is she from and what age is she?

Rhasidat was born in Dublin on 29 August 2002. She will turn 22 later this month.

Where did she go to school?

Adeleke attended St Mark's Primary School in Tallaght and secondary school at Presentation Community College in Terenure.

Where did she go to college?

Adeleke attended the University of Texas and competed for their Athletics team.

Family

Adeleke is the daughter of Ade and Prince Adeleke. Rhasidat's younger brother Abdullahi is also a promising young athlete.

Athletic Achievements

Adeleke has run national records in the 100m, 200m and 400m events in Ireland and has clocked a time of 49.07 in the 400m.

The Tallaght native won silver at the European Championships earlier this year as well as gold in the 4x400 mixed relay. Adeleke also won bronze in the 4x400 World Relay Championships this year.
