The family of a youngster who was allegedly stabbed in the Parnell Square attack say she may be able to leave the hospital “before autumn” and said she is “in great spirits”.

In an update on GoFundMe, they said their “little warrior” was “doing well” despite being struck down with a “nasty stomach bug”. They added: “She is doing well with her feeds, and she enjoys play time and her therapies.”

The five-year-old girl is one of three children who were injured in the stabbing outside Coláiste Mhuire on Parnell Square on November 23, 2023. Hero creche worker Leanne Flynn Keogh was also injured in the attack while trying to protect the children.

The update on a GoFundMe page continued: "She is able to communicate what she likes, doesn't like, and is in great spirits.

"She has now become more interested in playing with sand, playdough, colouring. She has also been able to work on her Maths and spelling. We are looking forward to the next chapter.”

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of the three children and causing serious harm to the care worker. Riad Bouchaker, who is of no fixed abode, remains in custody awaiting trial.
