Irish Christmas supermarket opening hours for Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Dunnes, Supervalu and more
The opening hours for stores around Ireland will change in the lead up to Christmas and New Year's Day, so make sure you don't get caught out
Christmas is just around the corner, and households all over Ireland are getting ready for the holidays, stocking up on all the essentials ahead of the big day.
From cheese and chocolate to wine, whiskey and all the Christmas dinner trimmings, people have been getting their fridges stocked up ahead of the last minute rush to stores next Tuesday.
While lots of people have gotten all of their shopping done early, many people may not have touched their Christmas list yet, but thankfully a great deal of the major supermarkets have extended opening hours in the lead up to Christmas Day.

Most will have their doors shut on Christmas Day, but they will reopen with reduced hours on St Stephen’s Day for anyone needing to restock ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Dunnes Stores
All Dunnes Stores branches in Ireland will shut for Christmas Day and for St Stephen’s Day, with reduced hours over the Christmas period. Stores around the country will operate with different hours until New Year’s Day. To check your local stores opening hours, check here.
Lidl
Lidl will shut nationwide on Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day and New Year’s Day, with reduced hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

- Christmas Eve - 8am to 6pm
- Christmas Day - CLOSED
- St Stephen’s Day - CLOSED
- December 27-30- 8am to 10pm
- New Year’s Eve - 8am, to 6pm
- New Year’s Day - CLOSED
- January 2- 8am to 10pm
Aldi
Aldi stores all around the country will also be shut on Christmas Day, St Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day. Some stores will have extended opening hours, until 11pm, in the lead up to Christmas, while Christmas Eve will see reduced hours.

- Christmas Eve - 8am to 7pm
- Christmas Day - CLOSED
- St Stephen’s Day - CLOSED
- December 27 - 30 - 8am to 9pm
- New Year's Eve - 8am to 7pm

Tesco
Tesco’s opening hours will differ from store to store over the country throughout Christmas week, but all Tesco stores nationwide will close on Christmas Day and on New Year's Day.
Some stores, but not all will operate with reduced hours in the days leading up to Christmas, including New Year's Eve and St Stephen’s Day. Check your local Tesco opening hours here.
SuperValu
Supervalu stores all over the country will operate with varying opening hours until New Year’s Day. To check the opening hours for your town or city’s store, see here.
Marks and Spencer
As with other stores, Marks and Spencer will operate with different opening hours over the Christmas period, but all stores will be shut on Christmas Day, Stephen's Day and New Year's Day. For details on your local branches opening hours, check here.
