'Greedy' mum defends stuffing freezer with 22 cuts of discounted meat weeks before Christmas
A mum-of-four has sparked backlash after stockpiling 22 cuts of discounted meat from the supermarket ahead of Christmas. While some labelled her actions as 'greedy', others defended her savvy shopping.
A woman has faced backlash for stockpiling discounted meat in her freezer ahead of Christmas. While it may feel like there's still plenty of time left, the reality is that there's only four more weekends before the big day.
Food and drink are at the heart of many celebrations, and whether your hosting or contributing, supermarkets play a key role in getting stocked up. Over the coming weeks, stores across Ireland will be bustling with shoppers checking off their Christmas lists.
While some of us like to leave our 'big Christmas shop' until a few days before December 25, others are super organised and prefer to plan ahead, purchasing food early and freezing it to avoid the last-minute rush.
Among them is mum Tracey King who took to social media recently to showcase her haul of frozen meat. During a shopping trip with her partner in Sainsbury's, they picked up several half-price cuts of meat, including six legs of lamb - despite already having five stored in their home.

The thrifty mum-of-four also bagged seven gammon joints and nine pork joints, as well as a selection of jars of pickles, sauces and crackers on offer that she plans to use over Christmas.
While her partner was loading meat into a basket, Kent mum Tracey said on her TikTok: "Sure he's greedy but they've got to last us over Christmas."
Not everyone approved of the couple's bulk buying. One person criticised: "Clearly not thinking about the next customer - pure greed."
Another echoed the sentiment, commenting, "F***ing greedy people," while another agreed, "Pure greed".
One user questioned: "Geez, how many do you need lady?".
Despite the backlash, others defended the mum's actions. One supporter said: "Never mind about being greedy, get them while you can sweetie. It's going to be a long, cold winter."
Another praised,"My kind of shopper," while someone else shared, "Got mine the other day".
Tracey has defended her shop, explaining that she has four children and a partner with "a big appetite", and the food will last them several months.
On a recent trip to Morrisons earlier this month, she scooped up six boxes of Quality Street, four boxes of Roses, six boxes of Heroes and five boxes of Celebrations.
She proudly proclaimed that her Christmas food shopping is now complete, saying: "I think this is probably going to be the last shop regarding food now. Like I said, the meats all done now. I've done all the sweet side of stuff, I've done all the jars, I've done the pudding side." She says the only thing left to pick up is drinks for Christmas Day.
