Rory McIlroy shares special moment with Tom McKibbin after massive win in Dubai
It was a special day for Rory McIlroy and Tom McKibbin after they were both successful at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Rory McIlroy shared a touching embrace with Tom McKibbin moments after his victory at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
McIlroy walked away with the win in the tournament and the overall season standings, along with $3 million to boot as he silenced the doubters with a stunning win at the Earth Course.
But McIlroy wasn't the only Holywood star to achieve something special in Dubai as McKibbin's 11th placed finish earned him one of 10 dual tour cards up for grabs, an achievement which means the Northern Irishman will be able to play on the PGA Tour alongside McIlroy in 2025.

And the pair shared a lovely moment shortly after Rory's win when the pair crossed paths. After embracing his daughter and his wife, McIlroy sought out McKibbin and cameras caught the moment the 35-year-old learned of McKibbin's achievement.
The pair shared a warm embrace and both could be seen beaming with delight at the magnitude of what they had done.
The enormity of the moment had hit McIlroy by the time he caught up with Sky Sports to speak about his massive win to cap off a challenging season both on and off the course.
"It means a lot. I've been through a lot this year. Professionally, personally, and it feels like the fitting end to 2024," McIlroy said when he spoke to Sky Sports after his win. "I've persevered this year a lot, had close calls, wasn't able to get it done, so to be able to get over the line today...
"I got off to a great start and then didn't have my best round, saving par on 15 was huge and then I had four great swings coming in. Really pleased with the way I finished and thankfully I hung on on a tough day."
