Gardaí have arrested a man after a massive cocaine seizure worth over €2.5 million by Revenue Officers at Rosslare Europort.

Approximately 36kgs of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of over €2.5 million was seized by Revenue Officers, following the search of a truck which had disembarked from a ferry on Friday morning.

A man, aged in his 50s, has been arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in County Wexford. Both Gardaí and Revenue confirmed that investigations into this are ongoing.

A Revenue spokesperson said: “Revenue officers seized approximately 36kgs of cocaine, with an estimated value of almost €2,530,000, at Rosslare Europort.

“The illicit drugs were discovered as a result of risk profiling, when a freight unit that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France was stopped and searched.

“A man in his 50’s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained, under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in County Wexford.”

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
