Aaron Chalmers has joined the Conor McGregor-backed Bare Knuckle FC and will make his debut in the sport in Newcastle.

The former Geordie Shore star has flirted with both MMA and boxing in recent years but has announced he will begin his bare-knuckle career next month. Chalmers has signed signing a multi-fight deal with the promotion which counts UFC legend McGregor among its owners.

And ahead of his first fight on October 19, Chalmers said: "I’ve fought across MMA and boxing previously, but it doesn’t get any more real than BKFC. I think it’s the most exciting sport in the world, and I’m here to dedicate myself to being the best in the business. This is a multi-fight deal, and I’m here to become the face of BKFC in the UK and across the globe.

"I’ve heard incredible things about the promotion, from the attention placed on medical care, to the overall treatment of the fighters, and I’m really excited to be a part of it. The Utilita is an incredible venue, where I’ve fought many times before, and the Geordies are the best fans on the planet. I know they’re going to come out in full force on October 19, and it’s going to be the start of something special for me."

Chalmers won five of his seven MMA fights before winning one of his two boxing fights while also taking on boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout. McGregor himself has revealed he would consider taking off his gloves when his UFC career comes to an end.

"For me, I've got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract," he said at a press conference in July. "But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this. I'm not here up here just as a owner, player-manager I'd title myself on this.

"Make no mistake about it, this is a viable option and in my opinion it's the only option. I don't want to see, nor do I give a f***, about UFC fighter going to PFL or another promotion. You need to break it up, you need to mix it up and come and try something new to try and break into that next level of superstardom, of respect, of money and of power. We have all that at BKFC."
