An Irishman who dedicates his life to saving street dogs in Thailand has revealed the huge generosity of Liam Gallagher in supporting his work.

The former Oasis frontman last year adopted a dog called Buttons rescued by Niall Harbison – after it was dumped in the jungle for being “too ugly”.

Now the Wonderwall singer has gifted the giant globe from his recent tour to a venue in Manchester – raising £25,000 (€30k) for Harbison’s sanctuary.

The Coop Live offered the cash for a charity of Liam’s choosing, and he didn’t hesitate in naming Harbison’s latest venture, Tina’s Hospital. Harbison, who aims to rescue 10,000 street dogs a month via Happy Doggo, shared on X: “A story that proves not all is bad in the world...

“It features a street dog named Buttons, rock star Liam Gallagher and the building of a hospital for a dog named Tina. Little Buttons was abandoned in the jungle in Thailand. She invited herself into our little sanctuary. She was only a puppy.”

Harbison, 44, goes on to detail how Liam and his partner applied to adopt Buttons and took her home to England where she’s “treated like a queen”. On his recent tour Liam, 51, dedicated the Oasis song Half the World Away to “me dog Buttons, who we got from Thailand”.

Harbison revealed: “But that was just the start. Throughout the tour there is a massive globe on stage They’d fallen so in love with Buttons and wanted to help that they wanted to auction off the globe to help us here.

“I never asked for a thing as it’s all about the dogs so this blew my mind. The globe was auctioned and @coopuk were kind enough to take it. It will be a feature in the new @TheCoopLive venue in Manchester where visitors can see it before all events.

“Incredibly the donation will be for a mind-blowing £25,000 which will help us build Tina’s hospital. It will be built on the same piece of jungle where little Buttons used to sneak in on.”

Harbison, author of the inspiring memoir Hope, concluded: “Never underestimate the impact dogs can have on us all.

“Over a year ago little Buttons walked in hoping for a better life. She’s done that and then some. Not everything is bad in the world. Love always wins. Not in my wildest most extreme dreams could I even have dreamed up this ending. I’m speechless.”
