Liam Gallagher has often enjoyed stoking rumours of an Oasis reunion by putting the onus back on his brother, Noel Gallagher, but this time he is not ruling out the band getting back together again.

Next year would be the 30th anniversary of Oasis' seminal album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, and the grapevine has been tingling with reports that this time Liam and Noel are going to take to the stage again, to the delight of Britpop fans across the country.

Liam has now posted a seven-word response to the rumours on X, formerly known as Twitter, in which he has not denied that Oasis will be back and actually took umbrage at being labelled the band's 'former' front man. When pushed, Liam then refused to deny that there will be a reunion as he answered fans posts on the social media site.

Posting a link to a story about Oasis planning gigs for the summer of 2025, Liam wrote: "I never did like that word FORMER". When pushed by fans about how he is feeling at the moment, Liam said that he had "Biblical vibrations". The singer then went on to interact with others who were commenting on his post and when one urged him, "Well say something like, it's not happening," Liam reacted by posting: "You trying to put words in my mouth that’s a criminal offense" before adding: "I can but I don’t want to."

Another fan asked what Liam would say to his brother Noel after many years of silence between them, to which he had a short two-word reply. Liam was asked: "If oasis reunion really happened, what would you say to Noel on the stage?" He promptly replied, referring to his brother being older: "Keep up".

There is hope that Oasis will return for big shows in Manchester and London as well as landing one of the coveted headline slots at Glastonbury Festival. While Liam, 51, and Noel, 57, have yet to confirm the reports, Liam appeared to reference the gigs during his headlining set at Leeds Festival over the weekend. He said: "It is very interesting innit? It is a very interesting situation we’ve found ourselves in," before launching into a rendition of Oasis' 'Half The World Away'.

Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis had eight number one singles including Some Might Say and Don't Look Back In Anger. The Gallagher brothers' last live gig together was in Paris in 2009. At their peak they played two legendary gigs at Knebworth to 250,000 fans.

The band split after a dressing room bust-up in Paris in 2009, with both brothers pursuing new musical avenues - Noel with his High Flying Birds and Liam initially with band Beady Eye and later as a solo act.
