Rhasidat Adeleke finishes four

Rhasidat Adeleke finished fourth in a time of 50.00 at the 400m at the Diamond League in Chorzow, Poland on Sunday afternoon.

Lining up in lane seven, Adeleke took on a field including reigning Olympic Champion Mariliedy Paulino and both Salwa Eid Naser and Natalia Kaczmarek - the two women that beat her to a medal at the Paris Olympics.

The Tallaght AC star flew out the blocks and easily ate up the ground on Lieke Klaver to seize control of the race and take the lead.

The Dubliner led with 100m to go but was unable to keep up with Olympic Champion Paulino down the home straight as the Dominican Republic native kept her undefeated 400m record alive with a blistering finish to clock a meet record time of 48.66.

Adeleke tired massively on the home straight and slipped back from first place into fourth, with Naser (49.23) taking second ahead of crowd favourite Kaczmarek (49.95) who took third in an exact repeat of the top-three from Tokyo.
