A Sex bomb is ready to explode in the Sky Bet Nursery.

SEX ON FIRE (5.20) couldn’t have found more trouble if he tried when finishing in midfield behind today’s likely favourite Artagnan in a hot Goodwood contest.

He didn’t have much more luck when beaten just a neck by Regal Gem on his handicap debut at Haydock.

The winner went on to run well in a Curragh Group 3 to underline the strength of the form.

He should get a decent pace to aim at and his trainer, Richard Spencer, has his team in great shape. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Most bookies are paying out on five places. Sky Bet is stretching to six.

DESERT COP (1.50) was a bit too keen when wearing a visor for the first time dropped to 5f at Ascot’s Shergar Cup meeting.

He showed plenty of pace – perhaps, too much – before fading into sixth place behind Holkham Bay.

The weights favour Andrew Balding’s speedster this time and he’s got an extra half-furlong to help as well.

They are sure to go a furious gallop and he should be picking up the pacesetters in the closing stages. Have 1pt each-way at 18-1. Most firms are going six places with Sky Bet paying on seven.

YAROOGH (2.25) takes a step up in class in the Group 3 Tattersalls Acomb Stakes and he looks over-priced in a hot contest.

He beat subsequent Superlative Stakes runner-up Seagulls Eleven to land a Haydock novice contest before making all the running under a penalty on Kempton’s all-weather track.

His trainer William Haggas generally gets his two-year-olds to progress throughout the season, so there’s every chance he will continue to improve. Have 1pt each-way at 25-1.

KNIGHTSWOOD (4.10) steps up to 2m for the first time and it could well be the making of him.

He’s run well in two of the hottest 1m6f handicaps of the season. His fourth behind Fairbanks at Newmarket’s July Meeting was even better than it looked as he was the only horse to make an impression from off the pace.

He got closer to that one when fifth behind St Leger hope Align The Stars – with Fairbanks beaten a neck in second – despite finding all sorts of trouble at Goodwood.

With a bit more luck he should have a cracking chance. Have 1pt each-way at 8-1. Sky Bet is offering six places.
