Shamrock Rovers v NK Celje and

Shamrock Rovers and St Pat's have European dreams on their mind tonight in third-round qualifiers of the Europa League and Conference League respectively.

Shamrock Rovers go to Slovenia tonight to meet NK Celje for the very first time as both are seeking to progress to the main stage of the newly reformed Europa League this season.

The Hoops checked out of the Champions League last week by virtue of losing over two legs to Sparta Prague. Rovers dropped into the Europa League qualifiers after they were condemned to a 6-2 aggregate defeat to the Czechian side in the Champions League second-round qualifiers at the end of July, having previously beaten Vikingur Reykjavik 2-1 on aggregate in the first round. NK Celje also dropped down into the Europa League qualifiers after they suffered a 6-1 aggregate defeat over two legs to Slovan Bratislava

While Rovers will be in Slovenia, their home will be taken over by the lads from Inchicore this evening. St Pat's are swapping Richmond Park for Tallaght Stadium this evening for the first leg as St Pat’s home turf home does not meet UEFA standards for the third round, meaning that they have to play a few stops down the Luas line in Tallaght this evening to host Azerbaijani outfit Sabah.

Pat's produced a valiant 5-2 aggregate score over Liechtenstein Cup winners Vaduz in the last round to make it to the third round. Stephen Kenny's men outclassed Vaduz 3-1 in the first leg at home with a brace by Jake Mulraney to put the Saints ahead and managed to share the honours away In a two-all draw from home to advance to the next round of the qualifiers.

LOI teams in Europe tonight!

Hello and welcome to the coverage of both NK Celje v Shamrock Rovers and St Pat's v Sabah tonight in European qualifiers.

As this is the third round of the European qualifiers, there is only one stage left after this round that separates the sides from making the group stages of European competitions.

If Rovers are to beat Celje over the two legs then they'd be guaranteed group-stage European football regardless of the next round as the losing side of the playoff round will enter the Conference League group stages automatically, but to make the group stages of the Europa League they'd face a tall task in either Malmo or PAOK to qualify.

But suppose Rovers lose to Celje on aggregate, they'd enter the Conference League playoff round where they'd travel away to face the winners of Kazakhstan's Ordabasy and Armenia's Pyunik with the winner of that tie entering the Conference League group stages.

Whereas, the winners of the St Pats/Sabah two-legged tie will play FC Iberia 1999 Tbilisi of Georgia or İstanbul Başakşehir of Turkey in the next round for a spot in the Conference League group stages.

Both games are available tonight to watch live on Solidsport for €10 a piece, but we will have coverage of the games here live on the Irish Mirror.
