Galway 1-12 Tipperary 1-11

Cork and Galway will meet in the All-Ireland Championship final after both winning their semi-finals at UPMC Nowlan Park.

Cork breezed past Dublin this afternoon in a 4-17 to 0-09 hammering of Dublin while there was just a single point between Tipperary and Galway, as the latter just edged their opponents in the end.

The two teams will now meet at Croke Park at 5.15pm on Sunday, August 11, as The Rebels look to retain their title following last year’s final win over Waterford.

Galway will aim to win the title for the first time since 2021 when they defeated Cork 1-15 to 1-12 in Croker.

Orlaith Cahalane scored 2-02 for Cork today while there were also goals via substitute Sorcha McCartan and Saoirse McCarthy as they led 2-11 to 0-03 ten minutes into the second half.

Speaking to the Sunday Game after the match, Saoirse McCarthy said: “Yeah, I was a bit shocked, to be honest.

“I don’t get in very often, I think it’s only my second championship goal ever, so, I can go back in and tell Liam because they were joking about that at the start of the year. I was delighted to get the win and looking forward to two week’s time now.”

She added: “We’re just taking every game as they come. Obviously, every year, you want to come out and win an All-Ireland and that’s no different to this year.

“I think we’re just focusing on our own performances and like today we were never focusing on Dublin, we were always focusing on ourselves and trying to reach our target.”

Galway trailed Tipp 1-11 to 1-09 but a free from Carrie Dolan and an equalising score through Aoife Donohue tied the game as Dolan then sunk The Premier County with a winning free late on, as Niamh Mallon ended with 1-02.

Galway Player of the Match, Rachael Hanniffy said after the final whistle: “We’re absolutely delighted. I think we were four down there, with two minutes to go.

"Look we’re just glad to get over the line and glad to be back in the final, where we want to be.”
