Snoop Dogg has confidently declared that he is immune to cancel culture, despite its impact on several celebrities known for their outspoken views.

The legendary 52-year-old rapper asserted that he embodies "the culture" and believes both he and Dr Dre are safeguarded from being dismissed. The duo, who recently performed at a special concert in London and have produced some of hip-hop's greatest hits like The Chronic, Doggystyle and 2001, seem unfazed by the potential backlash.

Despite facing scrutiny over his lyrical choices from songs spanning three decades - some of which touch on themes of violence and misogyny - Snoop is convinced he won't be ostracised from the industry.

While acknowledging his growth into a "more mature" individual, Snoop - born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr - stated: "I have a bigger fan base and I'm smarter now and I'm sharper. And I'm thankful that I got somebody like him who's really helping the writing, because I was getting stuck."

When asked by the Standard if his past lyrics could pose a problem, he responded: "No way. No way we get cancelled, man. We are the culture. You can't cancel the culture. "It's just a bunch of motherf------ that you don't know, just typing, saying that you ain't hot no more. But when you are the culture, you dictate what the outcome of everything is. You don't follow that s---, you lead."

Snoop received a roaring cheer from the crowd in Paris on Friday as he embraced the role of an Olympic torch bearer. However, some fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to jokingly suggest that Snoop was holding something entirely different.

Dressed head-to-toe in white and flashing a broad grin, Snoop proudly held the glowing torch aloft. One fan responded with humour, asking on X: "Are you sure it's the Olympic torch and not a giant joint? ? ? "

Another fan chimed in with a similar jest, commenting: "Bro thinks the Olympic torch is a joint, while a third jokingly warned the rapper not to "drop it like it's hot," referencing his smash hit song.

Previously, the revered musician discussed his feelings about being bestowed the honour of torchbearer. He related his experience to that of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali at the iconic 1996 Atlanta Games. Snoop shared: "It was emotional for all of us to see the champ holding that torch and walking up there. This is my own version of it. I don't want to get too emotional, but I know that this is special. "
