FC Zurich will play host to Dublin's own Shelbourne this evening as part of the first leg of the second-round qualifier for the UEFA Conference League.
The 13-time Swiss Pro League champions and 10-time Swiss Cup winners only managed a fourth-place berth last year in the league, resulting in a qualifying spot in the Conference League. They are currently managed by Ricardo Moniz, a 60-year-old Dutchman, who has managed the likes of Ferencvaros, Notts County, Red Bull Salzburg, and Hamburg, as well as a stint early on in his managerial career as Tottenham Hotspur first-team-coach.
It's believed that 400+ Shels supporters have made the mid-week trip to Zurich to support the Drumcondra-based side. Damian Duff's men progressed to this stage of the Conference League qualifiers following the draw away in Gibraltar last week that resulted in a 3-2 aggregate win for The Reds.
