A woman has been arrested after a man was hospitalised in serious condition following an alleged assault on Sunday evening in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí were rushed to the scene of an alleged attack near the Long Mile Road in Walkinstown at around 6:20pm on Sunday evening. A man was taken to St James’ Hospital for treatment, authorities have said his condition is described as serious but stable.

A woman has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained a Garda Station in the DMR under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault which occurred at around 6.20pm on Sunday evening, 21 July near the Long Mile Road in Walkinstown, Dublin 12.

"A man was taken to St James’ Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as serious but stable.

"A woman has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained a Garda Station in the DMR under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984."

The spokesperson added that investigations into the alleged assault are ongoing.
