Gardaí have seized these petrol bombs as part of their ongoing investigation into the unrest which took place in Coolock throughout last week.

An investigation has been launched into the scenes which saw the former Crown Paints factory set on fire, incidents of criminal damage including a JCB digger burnt, force used on protesters and public order units deployed. The site at Crown Paints was set alight a total of four times over the week.

Gardaí investigating these events recovered a number of incendiary devices following searches of the Moatfield Avenue and Dunree Park areas last Tuesday afternoon, July 16.

Searches were conducted of grass areas close to the protest area by members from the R District Drugs Unit assisted by Coolock District Detective Unit.

Seven glass and plastic bottles of various sizes containing flammable liquid were discovered, alongside a number of empty glass bottles and rags. Plastic bottles containing a mixture of paint and oil as well as packets of water balloons were also recovered.

All of the incendiary devices and material seized have been sent for further technical examination and analysis. Gardaí warned such devices risk serious harm to human life as well as criminal damage to property, as has been witnessed in recent events.
