Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven have made an initial enquiry into the availability of Ireland Under-21 striker Aidomo Emakhu, MirrorSport has learned.

However, they have been warned by Millwall that the Dubliner will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.

Emakhu has already made a strong impression on Lions manager Neil Harris in pre-season, scoring in Tuesday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton.

He also impressed in a second-half display during last weekend’s scoreless draw against Gillingham. Emakhu came closest to breaking the deadlock when his effort struck the crossbar.

There has been massive interest already in the 20-year-old, with clubs from the Championship, League One and Scottish Premiership all lining up to convince Millwall to send him out on loan for the season.

However, Emakhu’s early form could open the door for regular first-team opportunities under Harris.

He moved from Shamrock Rovers to Millwall in January 2023 and made his debut the following month against Burnley.

Earlier this summer he started and scored for Ireland in a 3-2 Under-21 win over hosts Croatia in Zagreb - his fourth goal in eight caps at that level.

He also came off the bench in the 2-2 draw against England’s Under-20 side.

The 20-year-old is eager to nail down regular first-team football and is focused right now on impressing during pre-season at Millwall, where last season he made 21 Championship appearances, six as a starter, and scored in a 3-1 defeat to Norwich early in the campaign.

However, the emergence of interest from PSV could yet change the landscape for the highly-rated young Dubliner.
