Nigella Lawson is not only famous for her excellent culinary skills but also for her porcelain and flawless skin.

The TV chef, 64, shot to fame back in 1998 for her approachable indulgent cooking style and her ability to make gourmet meals accessible to home cooks. Having worked as a book reviewer and a food critic, she published her first cookery book, How to Eat, and it was so successful it led to her first Channel 4 cookery series, Nigella Bites - and she has captivated viewers ever since.

Nigella has authored several best-selling cookbooks, including How to Be a Domestic Goddess, Nigella Express, and Simply Nigella. Her TV shows, such as Nigella Feasts, Nigellissima, and Nigella: At My Table, have been broadcast internationally, earning her a loyal following.

The domestic goddess recently revealed her unusual secret to maintaining wrinkle-free skin: sleeping in a cold room with no central heating. When asked about the "secret to her ageless beauty" by a fan on X (formerly Twitter ), Nigella shared that her "immutable nighttime regime" includes a thorough cleansing and skincare routine, followed by a chilly night's sleep.

She shared that she prefers to wash her face every night with Temple Spa's In the Beginning cleanser and wipes her face off with Temple Spa's Soft muslin cleansing cloth. She then massages her face with Victoria Health's Prickly Pear Seed Oil, adding "No central heating in the bedroom!".

It might be pretty tempting to switch on the central heating during the winter season, but leading experts have claimed that it leads to dry and flaky skin after coming in contact with air, indoors and outdoors, that lacks humidity. Dr Derrick Phillips, a consultant dermatologist explained, "Use of central heating over the winter months reduces indoor humidity by drying out the air as the temperature rises.

This has a drying effect on the skin as it encourages loss moisture from the surface, leading to irritation and flare-ups of conditions like eczema, where the skin barrier is impaired."Dr Adam Friedmann told Glamour magazine, "Central heating adds an extra level of stress to managing dry skin, which is especially problematic when you have a pre-existing skin disease such as psoriasis or eczema."

However, the use of humidifiers have reduced the problem significantly which adds moisture to the air during the winter months and reduces skin dryness and respiratory problems. Nigella recently shared insights into her mom's "relationship with food" and weight gain. She said, "My mum had a problematic relationship with food and I did think, ‘I don’t want to be like that.’ I would rather have more flesh and eat more food."

She further spoke about issues around body image and that weight was "hard to resist". She said: "The real truth is you have to work out what matters to you in life and what matters to me is eating. It is the way I celebrate life. If I did not make every meal something that I really want to take pleasure in, I think I’d feel overwhelmed with lassitude, slight depression and disconnection. I don’t have a particularly fancy palette – I love all sorts of foods – and I don’t really want restaurant fine dining. I adore restaurants and I am inspired by chefs but I don’t want to cook like one. I love stirring a pot!"
