The Valletta Local Food Festival which will showcase Maltese cuisine and local culinary talent is set to make a comeback later this month.

October will see the return of the Valletta Local Food Festival at the capital city which will offer a dynamic showcase of local culture and gastronomy in which gourmands can taste authentic flavours whilst exploring the culinary talent of local cooks and artisans. The Festival will be held at the picturesque Valletta Design Cluster from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th October, with varying times, to offer a vibrant atmosphere for all.

Chef Ronnie Caruana, will prepare Maltese sweets and share his own culinary journey and visitors will also be able to enjoy artisanal beers, wine, cheese and olive oils. There will be live music and Maltese crafts will be displayed as well as an interactive workshop on the 19th by Malta Accelerate for new companies on the production of food from produce.

"The Valletta Local Food Festival is the perfect example of how our traditional cuisine brings people together and contributes to our national identity. As a government we fully believe that these events are curcial to continue preserving Maltese culture and history through the unique flavours of our island. I encourage everyone to participate in this experience which not only shows local talent in this sector but brings us together as a community." Minister for National Heritage Owen Bonnici said.

"The Valletta Local Food Festival celebrates the body of Maltese culture through our vibrant culinary traditions. This is an opportunity for us to share the flavours that define our heritage and bring the people together in a celebration of that which makes Malta unique." Chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency Jason Micallef said, with the agency being one of the organizers of the festival with support from Visit Malta.

On his part, Artistic Director for the Valletta Local Food festival Charles Bone said that this year's festival offers a culinary journey through the Maltese gastronomic environment through a diverse menu that celebrates Malta and its exceptional flavours prepared by talented, creative and passionate chefs.
