A woman was injured in a hit-and-run accident in St Julian's this morning, with the driver later being arrested, the police said Saturday.

The accident took place in Dragonara Road at 4am.

The woman, aged 30 of Ghaxaq, was hit by a car whose driver kept on going, the police said.

She was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.

Police investigations led them to a car, a Toyota Vitz, which was allegedly involved in the accident.

A 26-year-old man was later arrested.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
