The CEO of the Labour Party Randolph de Battista has announced his resignation from the position.
In a Facebook post, de Battista did not provide a reason for his decision. In his post, he said: "Earlier today, I informed the Prime Minister and Leader Robert Abela of my intention to step aside from my role as CEO of the Labour Party in the coming weeks, after having served in this role for a total of five years."
"These were five years during which my work as CEO involved ensuring prudent management of the Party's finances and properties. During these five years, we took important and unprecedented decisions regarding the Party's financial sustainability. Long-term decisions guided by prudence, leaving a legacy that can be enjoyed for many years to come."
"Naturally, I will continue to dedicate my time to ensuring a smooth transition in the best interest of the Party. I would like to sincerely thank those individuals I have worked with over these five years. The Leader and Administration, and especially the Party's employees and volunteers, including the people working in the Party's subsidiary companies, who work with great loyalty and dedication for the benefit of what the Labour Party stands for."
"I look forward to continuing my work, or rather, working even harder in favour of human rights, for the underprivileged, and for the most vulnerable. That has always been my calling, and those are the principles I have always emphasised within the Party's structures."
Randolph de Battista announcement comes on the same day that it was revealed that the Labour Party's Communications Coordinator is also stepping down.
