A power cut hits all of Gozo on Tuesday evening after a fire developed in one of the cables supplying electricity, Enemalta said.

In a statement late on Tuesday, Enemalta said it had started restoring electricity to Gozo after fire develops on one of the cables supplying the sister island.

On Tuesday evening, a fire developed on one of the electricity cables, causing a disruption of supply to customers in Gozo. This fire impacted another cable that provides electricity to Gozo.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site to control the situation, during which Enemalta had to switch off all the cables supplying electricity to Gozo as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all those involved.

Enemalta’s distribution teams took all the necessary measures to gradually restore the supply to Gozo.
