Soccer: Genoa derby rioters may face 15 yrs in jail
For criminal association, devastation and looting
Fans who rioted at last Thursday's
Italian Cup tie Genoa derby between Genoa and Sampdoria could
face up to 15 years in jail under charges police are
considering, judicial sources said Monday.
The arrests of the ultras involved in the clashes have been
validated, they said, and the prosecutor's office is evaluating
whether to also charge them with criminal association,
devastation and looting or public intimidation with the use of
weapons - crimes that carry sentences of eight to 15 years.
First, however, the report from the Digos special branch police
will have to be issued with the total calculation of the damages
and the identification of those who participated in the clashes.
