Missing grandma's body found near Pisa
German tourist swept away by river flood last week
A body believed to be that of a
German tourist who was swept away with her five-month-old
grandson by a river flood near Pisa last week was found in the
area on Monday.
The body was found by firefighters about 6 kilometers from the
point of rupture of the Sterza torrent in Montecatini Val di
Cecina, in the Pisa area, where last Monday the flood wave swept
away the grandmother and her 5-month-old grandson.
A certain identification has not yet been made, but according to
rescuers it could be the German tourist and the discovery of the
body would be perfectly compatible with the dynamics of the
flood current that inundated 22 hectares of countryside between
the municipalities of Montecatini Val di Cecina and Monteverdi
Marittimo.
