Worrying injury blow for Ireland ace Sammie Szmodics as Ipswich await update
The forward suffered the setback in the Tractor Boys’ entertaining 2-2 draw away to Fulham last Sunday
Ireland’s Sammie Szmodics is facing a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury that Ipswich hope is not “very, very serious”.
The forward suffered the setback in the Tractor Boys’ entertaining 2-2 draw away to Fulham last Sunday.
Szmodics is currently wearing a protective boot and won’t be involved in Sunday’s FA Cup third round clash at home to Bristol Rovers.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna said: “We don’t know how long he will be out, to be honest.
"Hopefully it won’t be a very, very serious injury, but he is in a boot at the minute with damage to his ankle. He will be assessed on Monday to get a little bit of a clearer picture on where he is at.”
The development will be a concern to Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson ahead of the March international window.
Ireland have home and away games against Bulgaria on March 20 and March 23, in a two-legged Nations League promotion-relegation playoff.
