Gardai announce major Limerick

Gardai have announced a major update in the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run in Co. Limerick.

Marguerita Sheridan who was in her 20s and from Rathkeale, died after a van ploughed into a set of gates she was standing beside on Saturday December 21. The driver did not stop to render assistance and fled the scene.

A man in his 40s continues to be detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Limerick.

In an update released on Monday evening, gardai confirmed a Ms. Sheridan's postmortem had been conducted and completed by State Pathologist, Dr.Sally Ann Collis on Sunday however the results are "not being released for operation reasons".

Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the Rathkeale area in Co. Limerick between 11:30am and 1:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Investigations are ongoing," said a gardai spokesperson.
