Oleksandr Usyk appears to take sneaky swipe at Tyson Fury over wife Paris after win
Usyk asserted himself as the best heavyweight of this generation after defeating the 'Gypsy King' for a second time
Oleksandr Usyk appeared to take a sneaky dig at Tyson Fury after the Ukrainian revealed his wife helped him train for his rematch with the English heavyweight.
Usyk asserted himself as the best heavyweight of this generation after defeating the 'Gypsy King' for a second time in Riyadh on Saturday night. In what was a tight and razor-thin encounter, it was Fury who began fairly strong. It was clear that the Brit's gameplan with the extra weight was to aggressively attack his rival early doors.
Fury got behind his jab well during the opening stages, but towards the midway point, Usyk's footwork and shots to his rival's body were on point. The Brit just didn't have an answer for the Ukrainian's movement - who went on to secure a convincing unanimous decision victory, reports The Mirror.

Following the jaw-dropping clash at the Kingdom Arena, Usyk was quick to pay a touching tribute to his family. In the build-up to the clash, the 37-year-old revealed he spoke to his family everyday. "It's helped me - because it's my family," he said. "I speak to my wife every day. Every time. Every second. Every minute. My children too. My little daughter, Maria, started to walk, say 'mama', 'baba' [grandmother]. This is real motivation for me. For me, it doesn't matter what Tyson Fury does. It matters what I do."
In his post-fight interview in the ring, 'The Cat' appeared to take a swipe at his heavyweight rival. "My wife, she help me train! I win. I win, thank you God. I had good preparation, my wife helped me. For me this is a very happy day. My son won his judo belt and said to me, 'Papa, you are next'."
His comments came after Fury revealed that he hadn't spoken to his wife Paris for three months. “I’ll end his career, this will be, you’ll never hear about Oleksandr Usyk again after this," he told Queensberry Promotions. "It’s been a long camp, hasn’t seen my wife and kids in three months. I haven’t spoken to [my wife] at all in three months. Not one word, sacrificed a lot. But it’ll all be worth it, 100 per cent."
Soon after his comments, Paris herself was quick to offer her response. She shared a clip from Tyson's interview on her official Instagram page, captioning the story: "People don't see the sacrifices made. I've let him solely concentrate on this fight. It seems like he's been gone forever, especially with no contact. But if it's what he needs."
Fury's promoter, Frank Warren was quick to hit out at the scoring of the contest in Riyadh. The promoter said: “One judge gave Usyk the last seven rounds. “How on earth can anyone say he never won one round out of the last 7? I'm dumbfounded at the scoring.”
While Fury said: “I thought I won that fight again. I thought I won both fights but going home with two losses on my record. Not much I can do about it, I can just fight my heart out and do the best I can. I’ll believe until the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing body and head. I think he got a Christmas gift from the judges." Usyk was quick to dismiss their claims, saying: “Uncle Frank, I think blind. If Tyson says Christmas gift, OK thank you God, not Tyson, thank you my team. Listen, Frank crazy man I think. In my opinion. No problem. I win.”
