DHL issues urgent scam warning for households awaiting Christmas packages
Dublin residents found fake delivery cards dropped into their letterboxes, urging them to scan a QR code which in turn took them to a fraudulent DHL site
Delivery company DHL have issued a scam warning to their customers, urging anyone who is hoping for their Christmas packages to arrive to keep "vigilant" after a series of fake missed delivery cards were found in the capital.
Dublin Live reports that Tallaght residents found false delivery cards in their letterboxes that asked homeowners to scan a QR code, bringing them to a fake DHL website.
The cards are clearly different in their layout, so the delivery firm has asked any customers waiting for parcels to keep an eye out for fake cards and to ensure they are binned if they come through the door.

A spokesperson for DHL said: "We’re aware of social media and WhatsApp messages circulating today about a potential DHL 'Not Home' card scam involving our On Demand Delivery service."
They added: "Our couriers in Ireland do leave official cards (see example) when no one is home to accept a delivery. These cards include a QR code for rescheduling your delivery. Scanning this QR code should redirect you to here.
"Alternatively, typing DHL.ie/ondemand in your browser will direct you to the same link.
"Safety Tip: If you’re directed to a different address or encounter cards that don’t match our sample, do not interact with them. Stay vigilant and thank you for trusting DHL!"
