A former bodyguard for pop superstar Rihanna is in hospital following a shooting incident in West Dublin.

The Irish Mirror has learned that Geoff Keating (46), who was once employed as head of security for singer Rihanna’s Diamonds tour in 2012 and 2013, was injured after shots were fired at his home in Finglas earlier today.

He was rushed to hospital with injuries that have been described as non life threatening. It comes after Mr Keating told the Sunday World newspaper in August that he believed there was a €15,000 bounty on his head.

He also claimed the matter was not being taken seriously by authorities. In a statement to this paper gardai confirmed they are investigating the shooting incident.

“Gardaí are investigating the discharge of a firearm, that occurred at Finglas, Dublin 11, today, Wednesday 18thDecember 2024, at approximately 10.30am,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“A man (aged in his 40’s) was conveyed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any road users or pedestrians who were in the Woodbank area of Finglas, Dublin 11, between 9am and 10.30am this morning, Wednesday 18th December 2024, and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available.
