Enzo Maresca outlines Shamrock Rovers challenge as Chelsea boss attempts to avoid shock result
Chelsea are looking to end their league phase campaign with a 100 percent record when they host Shamrock Rovers in the Europa Conference League
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says he is not taking Thursday night’s Europa Conference League clash with Shamrock Rovers for granted.
The former Parma and Leicester City boss has highlighted the Hoops’ strong defensive displays in their unbeaten run through the league phase to date.
Ahead of the sixth and final night of action at this stage of the competition, Rovers and Chelsea are two of just three teams out of 36 to have not suffered a loss.

One outstanding factor in the Irish side’s form to date has been their off-the-ball work - key particularly in draws at home to APOEL and away to Rapid Vienna.
“We are going to try to approach always in the same way, try to do our best and win the game,” said Maresca, ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash.
“I think football today there is no team with no strength, all the teams, they have something good, and some things that you can work on to win the game.

“I watched four or five games and I think they are a good team, they try to defend as a bloc, and they have some good players in general.”
Asked if any player in particular had caught his eye, Maresca replied: “No, as I said before, it’s a general team, the way they defend as a block, the way they try to defend and help each other, so it’s more general.”
However, the new Chelsea supremo is looking to wrap up the league phase with a sixth consecutive win, even if he does plan more rotating of his squad.
“For sure we will try to win the game,” he said. “Tomorrow is probably one more option for that (rotation).”
