Irish rail suspend Mallow to Tralee service after person struck by train on line

A person has tragically lost their life after they were struck by a train on the line between Mallow and Tralee on Tuesday morning.
Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident, which occurred at around 10:30am at Clasheen, Killarney, Kerry, with lines currently suspended between the two towns.
It happened on the line involving the 9am Cork to Tralee service. CorkBeo understands that the tragic incident happened at the level crossing at Minish, just outside Killarney.

The train is reportedly stopped close to the scene, with passengers still on board the carriages as Irish Rail works to move the train to the closest station where passengers can disembark and continue their journey via a bus transfer.
Gardaí confirmed emergency services were still at the scene of the incident this morning, adding that no more information was available.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of an incident that occurred at Clasheen, Killarney, Kerry at approximately 10.30am. No further information is available at this time.”
While services are suspended while emergency services attend the scene, a spokesperson for Irish Rail confirmed the incident would not directly impact Cork to Dublin services.
An Irish Rail spokesperson told CorkBeo: "A person was struck and tragically fatally injured on the line in an incident involving the 9am Cork to Tralee service near Killarney.
“Emergency services are attending the scene and services are suspended between Mallow and Tralee as a result. It won't directly affect Cork to Dublin services. We apologise to customers for the unavoidable disruption."
