Gardai probing the disappearance and suspected murder of Kyran Durnin are working through “huge volumes” of social media material for clues as to what happened to the eight-year-old.
Detectives are hoping social posts, messages and photographs from social media accounts will aid them in establishing when Kyran was last seen alive and what has happened to him and possibly his whereabouts.
Sources say investigators are going through online material from several social media accounts - which are forming part of the investigation into Kyran’s disappearance and whereabouts.

“There is a huge volume of social media material that investigators are working through for information and clues. It’s a huge operation,” a source told this paper.
This comes as the murder investigation, which was launched on October 16, runs into its second month.
Gardai believe Kyran, from Drogheda, Co Louth may have been killed up to two years ago, when he was six.
It’s understood the last sighting of him was in May 2022 in nearby Dundalk where he attended primary school.
Last month a search and dig at the former rented home of Kyran, in Dundalk, as well as a dig on nearby wasteland took place with nothing of evidential value found.
Kyran was reported missing to An Garda Siochana on Friday, August 30.
Following enquiries, investigating gardai launched a murder investigation last month as they believe Kyran is missing presumed dead.
Earlier in November, the Government received two internal Tusla reports into its handling of the case of missing Kyran and said that gardai have requested the reports are not published at this time because of the ongoing investigation.
Gardai also continue to follow up on the huge volume of phone calls they received which detectives hope will aid them in establishing when Kyran was last seen alive.
So far, no arrests have been made and sources say arrests could be made only when evidence gathered by the Garda provided the grounds for such a move.
