An urgent recall has been issued for a popular children's toy due to serious safety fears.

Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued a public notice on Monday announcing that the Acctel 24V Vertex UTV - an Electric UTV ride-on for children - is being recalled.

Priced at €379.99, the Vertex 24V UTV is a battery-powered adventure ride-on for children featuring engine and horn sounds, front LED lights, rear roll bar lights and a battery indicator on the dashboard.

According to the manufacturer's instructions, this ride-on vehicle must be charged for 15 to 18 hours before first use, and overnight charging is recommended to reach the maximum time.

However the product has now been pulled from shelves after inspectors discovered an issue with the circuit board.

According to the CCPC, the product can become hot and overheat causing the product to melt. If a user touches it, it is feared that they may sustain burns.
