This is usually a quiet time of the year for new smartphone releases but ahead of the return of Oppo Find X series to Ireland this Thursday, Asus Republic of Gamers has announced the arrival of ROG Phone 9 Series.

The latest versions of the iconic premium gaming phone feature an enhanced AniMe Vision display, more powerful performance and a raft of AI-driven gaming features. It is the first phone to go on sale in the EU and UK driven by the powerful new Android chip, Snapdragon Elite.

ROG Phone 9 Pro can be bought from today, several weeks before the arrival in Europe of one of its biggest competitors, RedMagic 10 Pro which goes on sale on December 7. Redmagic 10 Pro is already on sale in China.

Earlier this year, Asus redesigned its ROG Phone flagship gaming phone to give it more appeal to non-gamers. When Irish Mirror reviewed Rog Phone 8 Pro Edition we said it “doubles up as a gaming powerhouse and everyday flagship smartphone.”

The launch of ROG Phone 8 series in January followed our interview with the firm about the future of the smartphone market in which ChihHao Kung said this was the year gaming smartphones could go mainstream.

Now Asus has beaten Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy smartphone series to market with an upgraded model that it says takes full advantage of the blazing fast new Snapdragon Elite chip that some observers claim will be even more powerful than Apple’s highest-end iPhone chip, A18 Pro.

Both ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro models boast a sleek high-end design featuring the innovative AniMe Vision mini-LED auxiliary display that gives the phones stand-out looks and personalisation capabilities.

And the new ROG handsets are both equipped with a cutting-edge 6.78in E6 AMOLED display with an incredible 185Hz refresh rate.
