Nineties icon 'lucky to be alive' as she shares shocking breast cancer treatment photo
WARNING: Contains distressing images . Saturday Night star, Whigfield, has bravely shared a shocking photo of herself after receiving radiation treatment for breast cancer
Nineties icon, Whigfield, told fans she's lucky to be alive after sharing a photo of herself receiving treatment for breast cancer.
The Saturday Night star, 54, whose real name is Sannie Charlotte Carlson, became an overnight success in 1994 when her catchy track created a worldwide dance craze.
However, 10 years ago, when the Danish star was in London, making new music, she was diagnosed with breast cancer for which she underwent radiation therapy in Italy.

Sharing a photo of her inflamed breast after the treatment, she told fans she hoped they wouldn't be "offended" by the image as she encouraged them to look after their health.
Captioning the post, she explained she wanted to raise awareness of breast cancer, writing: "Fighting breast cancer was a strange thing. One moment I was living my best life making new music in London, the next I was stuck in a bubble of numbness.
"Even though the operations and radiation therapies were tough, I got so much strength from seeing so many other patients including kids fighting this horrible disease, and many never left the San Raffaele hospital in Milan again."
She added: "I hope this pic (taken during radiation therapy) doesn't offend anyone, but helps to get checked once in a while, even though you're feeling amazing. Wish you all a healthy and happy life." Responding to the post, fans thanked Sannie for raising awareness of breast cancer and many told her how "brave" she was.
The singer, who has some international tour dates coming up, much to the excitement of her fans, revealed two years ago that she had gone for an MRI and biopsy after having a more recent health scare.
Sharing another selfie from the hospital, wearing a protective face mask as she waited for her appointment, she told them at the time: "Back at the hospital for a biopsy. Hopefully all this will be over soon. Have a great day everyone and Wish me luck."
Her post came less than three weeks after she was forced to cancel an appearance at the Oktoberfest in Odense, Denmark to undergo an emergency MRI, pulling out on the day of the concert.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "Unfortunately I won't be able to perform at tonight's Oktober Festival in Odense DK. Those who follow me know that i haven't really been feeling 100 per cent lately and been doing various check-ups.
"Unfortunately I've been booked for an emergency MRI scan tomorrow and because of logistics, it would be impossible to do both. "This is a first for me to miss a gig and I'm truly sorry."
