Former MEP Mick Wallace has appealed for the return of a "stolen" mobile phone that contains precious photos and voice messages from his late son.

Mr Wallace is offering a reward for the safe return of the phone which he says contains irreplaceable photos and voice messages from his son Joseph, 30, who passed away in June having undergone surgery the previous year for a brain tumour.

Joseph's passing came as a devastating blow to his family, parents Mick and Patricia and siblings Grainne, Fionn and Sasha.

A phone containing precious photos and voice messages along with texts from Joseph before he passed away was reported stolen from a locker of a Wexford gym and his family are desperately appealing for its return.

"I'm appealing to the good people of Wexford," Mick Wallace said in a social media post.

"My son has had his phone stolen and it has all the voice messages with his brother Joseph who has recently passed away."

The Wexford man who was unseated as an MEP back in June has appealed for anyone with information to contact local Sinn Fein Cllr Aoife Rose O'Brien.

"Sadly my friend lost his younger brother unexpectedly a couple of months ago," Cllr O'Brien said, appealing for information. "The images, messages, videos and voice notes on this phone are irreplaceable.

"There is a reward ready for the person who hands this phone back into the gym. Please do the right thing and give this family back the memories they will forever cherish. Nothing further will happen if the phone returns safely."

Anyone with information can contact Wexford Gardai or Cllr. Aoife Rose O'Brien.
